Died - G. A. Jones, 70, Tues. at his home in Register. Surviving are his wife and a number of children, among them Henry and Cleve Jones. Internment at Ephesus Church.

My great uncle "Berry" Jones (George Asbury Jones) had passed away 11 years and almost 8 months when I was born so I never knew him, but I did know his son, Lester, and daughter, Pearl, very good for they both never married and lived just ½ mile North on the same road, where all six of my siblings and I were raised. I heard many stories about great uncle "Berry" Jones because he was my mother's uncle and a younger siblings of her father, my grandfather, Martin Eastwood Jones. He married Jincy Anderson and together they had eleven known children, listed below, in birth order:

(1) Henry Millard Jones, b. 08 SEP 1882, in Bulloch County, Georgia. WW I Record.

*(2) David Cleveland Jones, b. 14 JAN 1884, d. 16 JUN 1940, Ephesus Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia.

(3) Charlie Millard Jones, b. 26 APR 1886. in Bulloch County, Georgia.

(4). Lester Leon Jones, b. 18 JUL 1889, d. 17 JUN 1985, Ephesus Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia. Cousin Lester (never married) and his sister cousin Pearl (also never married) lived just 0.6 miles from my parents where we all were raised in Evans County, Georgia. I had many conversations with both during my formative years, at home.

(5). Mary Janie Jones, b. 20 APR 1891, d. 27 MAR 1983. (Never married). She worked as a school teacher for many years and later became an administrator within the Education System. Interred in Ephesus Church Cemetery, B.ulloch County, Georgia.

(6). Henry Jones, b. 1892 d. ? ?. He was an attorney-at-law, lived his life in the Miami, Florida area. My brother, Alfred, his wife (Myrtle) and mother, Ethel Marguerite Jones Bowen, visited this cousin in the year 1958 in Miami, Florida. At that time he was found to be a very wealthy, retired lawyer, my brother Alfred said. His birth and death date is unknown, as well as the location of his burial site.

(7) Mattie Jones, b. 31 JUL 1893, d. 15 MAR 1958 (married Thomas Potter Brewton, b. 27 OCT 1888, d. 23 OCT 1957 - both interred in Ephesus Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia).

(8) George W. Jones, b. 17 OCT 1895, d. 14 NOV 1910, Ephesus Church Cemetery, B.ulloch County, Georgia.

(9) George Asbury Jones, Jr., b. 1897, d. ? ? (Source 1910 US FEDERAL CESUS).

(10) Pearl Nancy Jones, b. 03 DEC 1897, d. 04 AUG 1971, Ephesus Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia, (Never married. I knew cousin Pearl and her brother cousin Lester, well as we were neighbors during my childhood.

(11) Lela Jones, b. 1899, d. ? ?. (Source 1910 US FEDERAL CENSUS. In 1920 Lela was 10 years old).

She is interred in Lower Lotts Creek Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia.

4. Amy 'Anna' Jones, b. About 1843, d. Before 1930. Married John Banks. Unable to find where she and her husband is buried. It is known by the family that Amy had a child prior to marrying John Banks and this child, Ezekiel William Jones, b. 01 APR 1861, d. 02 DEC 1930, was raised as her sibling by her parents (See #13 below).

5. Martin Eastwood Jones, (CSA Veteran) b. 27 DEC 1844, in Lumpkin County, GA, d. 05 MAY 1925, in Bulloch County, interred in Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, GA. Married 3 times.

(1) Married 1st Mary 'Polly' Sumerlin on 27 APR 1881. b/ About 1856, d. Unknown. (2 children: William 'Billy' Jones, b. About 1874, d. After 1960 near Miami, Florida. They divorced.

(2) Married 2nd Sally 'Sallie' E. Lanier, b. 06 AUG 1847, d. 28 JAN 1897. 5 children from this marriage. (a) Calley D. Jones, (b) Norman Jones, ( c) Daniel Webster Jones, (d) Annie Elizabeth Jones, and (e) Mary Alice Jones.

(3) Married 3rd Ella J. Ennis, b. 03 FEB 1874, d. 30 APR 1942. Ella was a widow of Durrence with two minor children Tom and Lula Durrence. Martin and Ella had 4 children:
