Annie Josephine (Mollie) Johnson Worthington, was the daughter of Charles and Anna Olson Johnson. Her parents were both born in Sweden. She was their oldest child. She was born, June 12, 1880, in Grantsville. She married, Stephen Hampton Worthington, October 30, 1902, in Grantsville. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Salt Lake Temple.
In 1903 they moved into their new home on Clark Street built by her father. The house was on the route used by the Donner Party when they went through Tooele Valley. She kept a record of their payments to her father for the house. They paid with wheat, cash and labor.
She lived most of her life in Grantsville. Hamp Worthington died August 3, 1948. After his death, she resided in the home of a daughter, Nona Shibley and her husband Mansur in Tooele. She died at the Tooele Valley Nursing Home, March 13, 1955.
Mollie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a block teacher (now visiting teacher) and was a secretary of the Primary Association for a number of years.
Surviving are a son, Max Hampton Worthington, Salt Lake City; four daughters, Anona Shibley, and Donna Weyland, Tooele; Melba Bruce, Henderson, Tennessee; Alice Allred, Washington, D. C.; eight grandchildren and a great grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted at the LDS Second Ward Chapel. Burial was next to her husband in the Grantsville Cemetery.
