After a protracted illness, weakened by the accumulated weight of years, Isaiah McGinley, an old resident of Porter county, died Monday afternoon at his home in Union township, at the advanced age of 73 years. Mr. McGinley was a native of Knox county, Ohio, and was born Sept. 28, 1828. Isaiah remained at home until he was 26 years old, at which period he was married, on Jan. 2, 1854, to Mary Leedy, of Richland county, Ohio. To this union there have been born five children, three of whom are living. After his marriage he spent thirteen years in farming in Knox county, Ohio, and in 1868 moved to this county, locating in Union township, where he since resided. Mr. McGinley was one of the foremost men of the township, and was held in high esteem by his friends and neighbors. He was twice elected trustee on the democratic ticket, though the township was heavily republican. He was a member of Porter Lodge, No. 37, F. & A. M., of Valparaiso. The funeral was held at Blachley's corners Wednesday at 12 o'clock, conducted by Rev. M. H. Appleby.
