He was born in Jubilee Township May 9, 1897, the son of Edgar P. and Amelia Bale Slane and he married Ruth Friedman in Princeville December 18, 1918.
She survives with two sons; Ronald and Robert of Princeville; three daughters, Mrs. Florence Shaw of Bradford, Mrs. Marjorie Romane of Kickapoo, and Mrs. Betty Steele of Pascagoula, Miss.; fifteen grandchildren; and three nephews.
A son, Wilbur “Bill” Slane and a brother Ben preceded him in death.
A lifelong resident of the Princeville-Jubilee community, his interests in sports and young people of the community kept him young in spirit and a friend to all.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. in Bouton Memorial Home Wednesday with Rev. Ernest Fernandes officiating. Burial was in the Princeville Cemetery.
