BEN SLANE DIES; FUNERAL SUNDAY
Ben Slane, well-known resident of this community passed away unexpectedly Friday at his home south of Princeville.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Tretheway funeral home, conducted by the Rev. E. L. Fernandes of Peoria. Interment was in the Princeville cemetery. Pallbearers were H. E. Williams, H. E. Calhoun, Chas. Schneider, Chas. E. Sentz, Harvey Sentz and Maurice Friedman.
Mr. Slane was born on a farm in Princeville township, April 6, 1885, the son of Edgar P. and Amelia Bale Slane. Some years later the Slane family moved to their farm in Jubilee township, where he grew up. He attended old Jubilee College.
He married Miss Myrtle E. Hunt in May of 1907 and they made their home in Princeville, where Mr. Slane was in business. He had been with the state highway department the past 12 years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his parents, his three sons, Bryon and Harold of Princeville and Edgar of Naperville, Ill., one brother, Free Slane of Princeville and four grandchildren.
