Lillard (often called TL) was born (at Belton, Cass, Missouri) to Fannie Lillard and Frank Gentry Robinson, both originally of Kentucky. He was educated at Centre College, Danville, Kentucky, to be a lawyer. He married Dora McDaniel, daughter of Eleanor Wood and Rev. Samuel P. McDaniel, at Warrensburg, Missouri. He practiced law in Grandview, Missouri, and farmed near Grandview. He was involved in local politics and served as county engineer at one period, perhaps the happiest period of his life. Children: Fannie Lillard Robinson, Eleanor Jane Wood Robinson (born Pierceville, Gray, Kansas, where TL and Dora farmed for time), Mary Bright Robinson, Frank Gentry Robinson, Jeremiah Vardeman Robinson. He died in Kansas City at Menorah Hospital. Siblings: Mary, Frances (Ricksecker), and Pet (Merchant).
