Raymond L. Rushing, 75, passed away July 3, 1996 at the Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born December 5, 1920 in Caruthersville, Mo., he is the son of the late Herman Rushing and Annie Langley Rushing.
He attended schools in Caruthersville, graduating in the High School Class of 1938.
He enlisted in the United States Army in 1939 and rose throught the ranks to 1st Lieutenant in the Infantry Division.
He took part in the European Campaign and received a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge and other medals of valor. He received his Honorable Discharge in 1945.
He was employed as a construction superintendent before his retirement.
In 1947 in Piggott, Ark. he was united in marriage to Laverne Mitchell. She preceded him in death in 1986. He is also preceded in death by one brother, David Lowry.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Budzyn of Clinton Township, Mich. and Linda Guy of Roseburg, Oregon; two sons, Jimmie L. Rushing of Canton, Mich. and Randy K. Rushing of Castro Valley, Calif.; two sisters, Rosa Lee Jones and Peggy Sue Watkins of Paris, Tenn., 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held July 6, 1996 at 10:00 am at the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Schreiner officiating.
Interment was in the Little Prairie Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lee Farrow, Michael Rushing, Talmadge Hundhausen, Ancil Robertson, Charles Ross and Herman Lewis Lowry.
