A BIOGRAPHY OF REBECCA SCOTT SHRIVER (1811-1897), by Laurence Overmire (great great grandson), genealogist and Shriver/Scott family historian, updated June 2020:

Rebecca was born Oct. 3, 1811, in Jefferson County, Ohio, the eighth of eleven children of Elder William Scott and Elizabeth Coe. About 1830, she moved with her family to Clear Creek Township, Richland County, Ohio, which became Ashland County in 1846.

On January 24,1833, probably in Richland County, she married David Shriver, the son of Johann Georg Shriver and Mary Magdelina Pollock. They had eight children:
1) George Shriver (1833-1917, m. Laura M. Cook)
2) Elizabeth Shriver (1837-1911, m. Jacob B. Lehmann)
3) Ebenezer Scott Shriver (1838-1923, m. Hanna Amy Percival)
4) Mary Ann B. Shriver (1841-1853)
5) Albert Norton Shriver (1843-1898, m. Mary Isabelle "Belle" Burns)
6) William Scott Shriver (1845-1917, m. Tirzah LoDean Burns)
7) Harvey Wilson Shriver (1850-1930)
8) Silas Elmore Shriver (1853-1930, m. Ella S. Souter)

No doubt Rebecca engaged in the usual arduous duties of a pioneer farm life, keeping the house and raising her large family. According to her gravestone in Ashland Cemetery, Rebecca died in 1897.
