LONACONING — Arvella Jane (Llewellyn) Loar, 84, of Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport, formerly of 19615 Buskirk Road, Gilmore, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at the nursing home. Born on Dec. 1, 1915, in Gilmore, she was a daughter of the late David Clarence Llewellyn and Bertha (Coleman) Llewellyn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Loar, in 1981; seven brothers; and three sisters.

Mrs. Loar was formerly employed at the Celanese Corporation and was chief bartender for several clubs and bars in the area. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Midland, Ladies Auxiliary of Midland Fire Company for 50 years, Ladies Auxiliary James P. Love Post #92 American Legion, Lonaconing, for 50 years. She was a member of the Gilmore Civic Improvement Association, where she served as Chaplain for many years, Dr. Spiggle Coalition, the Al-Via Leukemia Foundation, and a volunteer worker helping all people in need.

Surviving are two sisters, Helen Thrasher, Midland, and Nellie Cutter, Klondike; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, PA., Lonaconing, Thursday. Services will be conducted at the Grace United Methodist Church, Midland, Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Neva Leatherwood officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to service. Memorial services will be conducted Thursday by the Midland Fire Company and the Ladies Auxiliary at 7:15 p.m. and James P. Love Post #92 Ladies Auxiliary at 7:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg. Cumberland Times-News, Thursday, May 18, 2000
