Thomas Johnson Loar, 76, of Gilmore, died at the Community Hospital in Frostburg yesterday. Born in Vale Summit, Mr. Loar was the son of the late Noah Amanda and Violet (Morton) Loar, and is the last member of his immediate family. A radio operator for the state of Maryland for 25 years, he had been employed by the Maryland State Forestry Department as supervisor of the Dan’s Mountain Recreation Area.He had also been employed as a towerman at the Dan’s Mountain fire tower. He was a social member of the Lonaconing American Legion, James P. Love Post 92, a member of the Republican Club of Lonaconing, and a member of the Senior Citizens Club. He is survived by his widow, Arvella Jane (Llewellyn) Loar. The body is at the Eichhorn Funeral Home where friends will be received today and tomorrow. A service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at noon, with the Rev. Ray Lytle officiating. Interment will be at the Memorial Park in Frostburg. Cumberland Evening Times, Monday, June 15, 1981
