Violet B. Loar, 16 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Loar, Miller Mines, near Midland, died Wednesday night at 11:30 o’clock in Allegany Hospital where she was admitted January 20 for treatment of leukemia. She had been ill for the past two months and had undergone treatment in Miners Hospital, Frostburg, before being taken to the Cumberland hospital. She was an honor student in the junior class of Beall High School and would have been 17 years old April 6. She attended Sunday school at Midland Methodist Church. Besides her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Mier, Cumberland, and her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Violet Loar, Miller Mines. Her grandfather, Noah Loar, died January 17. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Violet Loar. Rev. Raymond Crowe, her pastor, will officiate, with burial in Allegany Cemetery, Frostburg. Cumberland News, Friday, February 13, 1948
