Aunt Mildred died at Divine Saviour Hospital in York on her favorite day of the week - Sunday. She was survived by two sons, Richard and Ralph Lockridge, both of York; two daughters, Linda Ray of Gastonia, N.C. and Vickie Puckett of York; her brother Paul Lanning of Homer, GA; her sister Ruby Jane Lanning Hines of Rock Hill; and 11 grandchildren.

Aunt Mildred was a member of First Baptist Church in York. She was also my Grandmother's(Ruby Hines) older sister. I have many, many fond memories of this precious lady.

Every Christmas Grandma and Aunt Mildred would get together and bake their supply of Christmas goodies... cakes, pies, and munchies and every year if we were around they would run us out of the house so the cakes wouldn't fall from children running through the house! We usually would get our hands popped if we tired to sneak anything but when the holidays finally arrived it was worth the wait! Yummy!!

Aunt Mildred believed if you visited her home --- you needed to eat something before you left and would have it no other way! One of her favorite places to eat out was the Bantum Chief in York and every so often she allowed Mom and Dad to treat her to one of their burger baskets.

I use to sit on her back porch --- because running right through her backyard was a train track ---- As children my siblings and I would sit out there and pray for train to come by and she would keep checking on us, and remind us over and over to stay on the steps and off the tracks. Seldom did one come but it was a highlight when it did!

After Uncle Roy passed away we convinced her to come visit with us a couple times in Camden, SC --- she cooked, cleaned, and cooked and cleaned the entire time and loved every minute of it.

I look forward to entering Heaven's gates and getting another one of her great hugs!
