Rosie(born Rosa)May Virginia Catlett, 80, of Gore,Va died Sept. 26,1989 at Winchester Medical Center, after complications from a perforated ulcer.
Rosie was born August 4, 1909, in Gore,Va, the daughter of Jeremiah (Jerry) Smith Dunlap & Ida Palmer Dunlap. She was the proud mother of 10 children and a member of Hebron Baptist Church.
She was married to Harry Edward Catlett who died July 8,1969 from meningitis.
At the time of her death she was survived by 2 daughters, Arlene Kay Catlett Miller Cowgill of Paw Paw, WV and Bessie V. Catlett Delawder Pitcock of Gore; 5 sons, Harry "Elwood" Catlett, William F. Catlett, & Donald W, Catlett all of Winchester,Va, Ralph L. Catlett of White Post,Va, and James H. Catlett of Gore,Va; 4 brothers, Daniel Dunlap of Wincheser, Grover Dunlap of Martinsburg,WV, William Dunlap of Edinburg, Va, & Walter Dunlap of Gore; 5 sisters, Ella Anderson of Gore, Lillian Hovermale of Winchester, Ethel Swartz of Inwood,WV, Marian Orndorff of Berryville,Va, & Mildred Hartley of Gainesboro,Va; 21 grandchildren and numerous great granchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sylvia May Catlett, and 2 sons, Curtis Barria Catlett and Richard Eugene (aka: Jerry - Gene) Catlett.
The funeral was at Bethel United Methodist Church in Trone (near Gore),Va (Frederick County), with the Rev. Morris Cather officiating. Interment in the church cemetery resting by her husband and close to her family.
Pallbearers were: Charles Catlett, Jerry Delawder, Curtiss Miller, H. Elwood Catlett,Jr., Terry Miller, and Donald Catlett,Jr.
