Born Feb. 8, 1937, to Alfred and Gwen Byers, he died Monday, June 30, 2008, in Oklahoma City. He married Patsy Griffith Maxwell in Ardmore. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, Wayne, Luther and Kenneth Byers; and three sisters, Dorothy, Carolyn and Marilyn.
He worked in the heat and air business and in the oilfields. For many years, he owned a heat and air business, furniture store and convenience stores.
His hobbies were hunting and fishing.
Survivors include five children, Pam Curran and her husband, Roger, Euless, Texas, Stephen Maxwell and his wife, Sharon, Ardmore, John Maxwell, Ardmore, Jana Weber and her husband, Ben, Seattle, and Michael Maxwell and his wife, Phyllis, Ardmore; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; three brothers, Allen Pete Byers, Denny Byers and his wife, Kay and David Byers and his wife, Shirley, all of Ardmore; and a sister, Cathy Faulkinbury and her husband, George, of Ardmore.
Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. in the Griffin-Hillcrest Funeral Home.
