Services for Luther L. Byers, 72, will be 2 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jody Ham officiating. Services will be followed by cremation.
Born May 13, 1933 at Ardmore to Alfred H. and Gwendolyn Cavner Byers, he died Aug. 12, 2005 at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wayne Byers, and one sister, Dorothy Lee.

He married Joan Smith May 28, 1955 at Ardmore.

Luther served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He retired from Lake Murray State Park and Uniroyal-Goodrich. He was a very loving father, grandfather and husband and was looking forward to being a great-grandfather later this year. He loved building things to give away to family and friends. He was a 32 degree Mason with Lodge 31 at Ardmore. Survivors include his wife, Joan, of the home; two daughters, Katherine Smith and her husband, Gary, Lone Grove, and Bobbye Miller and Bruce, Ardmore; two grandsons, Craig Smith and his wife, Heather, Ardmore, and Jason Smith, Lone Grove; five brothers, Allen "Pete", Kenneth, Eldon, David and Denney, all Ardmore; three sisters, Carolyn Herrell and Cathy Faulkinbury, both Ardmore, and Marilyn Gowina, Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
