One of Young County's pioneer citizens was claimed by death last Thursday when Jesse Thomas Rogers passed away at his home on Kentucky Street. Services were held at the First Methodist Church by Rev. A.W. Franklin, assisted by Rev. J.D. Thorn, pastor of the First Baptist Church, and Rev. J.E. Montgomery, pastor of the First Christian Church. Mr. Rogers was born in North Carolina and came to Weatherford as a young man. He married Miss Marilla Cass Copeland in 1875. To this union, nine children were born, one child - Thomas Jefferson Rogers preceded him in death. Mr. Rogers moved to Young County in 1880 and settled in the Tonk Valley community. In 1919, he moved to Graham. He united with the Methodist Church in 1901 in Tonk Valley. Survived by his wife; children.
