Mrs. Joe O'Toole Killed When Hit By Hit and Run Driver at San Marcos

In Memory of Carrie O'Toole
By Alta Greenwood
He called for his child last Sunday night,
About her head he cast a silver light,
Her troubles are over, her fears are gone,
She'll be happy in heaven always singing a song,
There were many who loved her and mourned at leave.
But why should anyone have to grieve.
Because they all have to go at a certain time,
And that's when our God calls.

Auto Accidents take toll of Luling Lives

Mrs Carrie O'toole,39-year-old Luling beauty shop operator, was instanty killed about 8 o'clock Sunday night when struck by an auto on Highway No.2 about four miles south of San Marcos.

Bob Lyles,Austin insurance salesman who is well known here, was the driver of the car which hit Mrs.O'Toole and the negro.
Mrs.O'Toole, returning to Luling from New Braunfels, was forced to stop her car because of a flat tire.
She flagged down Pounds to help her repair the tires.
Mrs O'Toole was watching Pounds work on the tire when they were struck. Lyle's car also hit Mrs O'Toole's auto but did not damage it badly
Lyles, who was returning from New Braunfels to Auston with his famlily, stopped and redered aid and later reported the accident to Sheriff M.M.Wren.
Sheriff Wren said that Lyles told him he did not see Mrs.O'Toole and Steve Pounds Jr. because of blinding lights on the another car going in the opposite direction. He was not driving fast, the officers quoted him as saying.
Mrs O'Toole mother, Mrs J.J. Davis,59 and James Powell,12,Mrs O'Toole nephew, both of Luling were with her but uninjured. Mrs Davis suffered severe shock, however.
