Goldie Gillespie

Goldie M. Gillespie of Greensburg passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2008, at 12:01 a.m. at Decatur County Memorial Hospital. She was 95.

Born February 19, 1913, in Franklin County to William and Minnie (Sherwood) Dice, Mrs. Gillespie lived in the Buena Vista area most of her life. She married Richard Gillespie on December 24, 1929. He preceded her in death on September 22, 1998.

Mrs. Gillespie was a broom maker for over 50 years and was a member of Buena Vista Christian Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Mary Ellen and husband George Quick of Keene, Texas; Ruby and husband Denzil Ford of Nashville; Marjorie Angell of Osgood; Norma Fay and husband Belvia Barker of Greensburg; a brother, Robert "Tony" Dice of Marion; three sisters, Doris Barnes of Richmond, Katheryn Truster of Gas City; Bessie "Peg" Burke of La Fountain; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, three sisters, and two grandchildren.

There was a funeral service at Moster Mortuary at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, with Pastor Danny Wolford officiating. Viewing was during the afternoon before the service on Saturday.

Burial was at Clarksburg Cemetery.
