Bernard James Burch, 62. Pickering, died at 9 a.m. Sunday at St. Francis Hospital. Maryville, where he had been a patient for three weeks. He was a farmer and lived in the Pickering community for two years. He was born Mar. 23. 1908. at Newkirk, the son of the late Harley Orville and Amanda Broun Burch. and was married to Doris G. Burch, who survives. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Des Moines. Ia. Other survivors besides his wife of the home include six sons, Robert Burch, Bernard Burch, Wayne Burch, Paul Burch, Joe Burch and Jerry Burch, all of Des Moines; seven daughters. Mrs. Dale Brown, Pickering, Mrs. Thompson, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Ray Grable, Mrs. Glenn Reed. Mrs. Jerry Peacock. Mrs. George Legg and Mrs. Dorene Ervin, all of Des Moines; three brothers, Joseph Burch and John Burch, Des Moines, and Lester Burch, Creston, four sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Cline, Mrs. William Bishop, Mrs. Margaret Nelson and Mrs. Cecilia Wilson, all of Phoenix, 45 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body was taken to West Des Moines, for funeral services and burial.
