Elijah Bingham was born the son of Elijah Bingham Sr. (1783 Va. – 1860 Ga.) and Benetta Skeen (1801 NC – 1875 Ga.). By 1840 he is shown living in Coweta Co., Ga. and on 6 Feb 1851 he married Adeline Elizabeth Redwine in Campbell County, Georgia. They moved to Upshur County, Texas by 1860 where they lived they remainder of their lives. They had six children, Luella Alice Delia Bingham (1852 – ), Sarah Adaline (Ada) Bingham (1854 – 1886 who married Dr. Benjamin Franklin Williams), Susan Bingham (1856 – 1870), Robert Bingham (1859 – 1860), Charles Walter Bingham (1864 – 1939), Willie Bingham (1867 – ). Census records indicate he was a farmer throughout his lifetime. When his daughter, Sarah Adaline Bingham, died and her husband, Dr. Williams died Elijah helped care their children until his own death when they were dispersed to 2 foster homes.
