William G. Waltz, died at this home Sunday Dec. 29, after a brief illness, at the age of 81. Born in Waldoboro, he early learned the trade of Blacksmithing and was employed for brief seasons in Whitefield and Camden. On settling in Waldoboro he established himself in the same shop which he occupied for sixty three years. Mr. Waltz was a most faithful and conscientious workman and citizen, always seeking the well being and happiness of his fellow citizens, dumb creatures also sharing in his great kindness of heart. For nearly fifty years he was a member of the Masonic Fraternity. Always interested in religious matters he was a constant reader of the Bible and, as long as his hearing favored him, a regular attendant at church. Although not a member of any, Mr. Waltz throughout a long long life gave every evidence of true Christian manhood. With the departure of such a man, the town sustains a loss which will be hard to be supplied. He is survived by a wife, two sons, Lendon C, of Waldoboro, and Alonzo F. of Everett, Mass; two daughters, Mrs. Enos T. Benner of South Portland and Mrs. Rufus Condon of Friendship and one sister, Miss. Lydia Waltz of Nobleboro. The funeral was held at the house Wednesday afternoon, Rev. G.F. Sibley pastor of the Baptist church officiating followed by a Masonic service. The interment was at Rural Cemetery.
