Samuel O. Waltz, better known as Otis Waltz, died at his home in this village Monday night. Mr. Waltz was a son of Samuel Waltz and was born in the neighboring town of Nobleboro, Jan. 9, 1823. He learned the trade of Joiner with Hiram Chapman of Damariscotta and came to Waldoboro in 1848 and has since resided in this town where he had the reputation of being an expert and skillful workman, both as a ship & house joiner. He was employed by nearly all the ship-building concerns in town. In 1878 in connection with his son, who are all the same trade, be cared part of the mill built by the late Rufus Achorn and has since been engaged in various branches of wood working business. He married Harriet Genthner of Nobleboro, who died in 1879. Three sons and two daughters survive him. His surviving brothers are William G. Waltz of Waldoboro, and Daniel and Andrew Waltz of California; his sisters are Mrs. Newell Winslow and Mrs. Albert Waltz. He had been a member of the Baptist Church since 1852 and was for a number of years a member of King Solomon's Lodge of Masons. He had suffered from cancer about a year, having had three operations in Portland. He was an honest man and a good citizen, whose death is a loss to the community. His funeral will occur on Friday.

Mr. Samuel Otis Waltz died Tuesday morning, February 11. Mr. Waltz has been suffering with a cancer for several years, and he has had several operations at the hospital in Portland. Mr. Waltz was senior member of the firm of S. O. Waltz & Sons, cabinet markers and ship joiners. He was a leading member of the Prohibition party, and a very worthy citizen.
