JOSEPH FISHER
Joseph Fisher of Route 4, Knox, died Thursday, April 15 at 12:15 a.m. at his home following a 3 1/2 year illness. He was born in Starke County and was 79 years of age at the time of his passing. He was a life-long farmer in this county and was well-known in this area.
He was married February 14, 1907 in this county to Clara Rivers, who preceded him in death. To this union seven children were born, three sons: Perry, Cecil, Ralph at home; four daughters, Mrs. Alice Skibbe, Mrs. Grace Fort of Knox, Mrs. Hazel Myers of Plymouth and Blanche Budka of Knox, who survive.
He was later re-married in September 1924 to Evelyn Sweet of Tacoma, Washington, who survives. To them were 13 children born, five sons: Walter, Raymond of Knox, Howard of North Judson, and Marvin and Melvin at home; eight daughters, Dorothy Tunis of North Judson, Helen Simuni, Mae Crosby, Shirley Sitek, Gloria Shannon, all of Knox, Clara Saine of North Judson, and Patsy Overmyer of Monterey. One daughter, Betty Fisher preceded him in death in February 1939. Also surviving are 53 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two brothers, George of Knox and Frank of North Judson; and one sister, Mary Billick of Knox.
Friends may call at the Harry Price Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services are to be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rufus Gerkin, pastor, officiating. Burial is to be in the Round Lake Cemetery.
