Melvin Fisher Sr., 65. of Walkerton, formerly of North Judson, passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 in Franciscan St. Anthony Health, Michigan City, IN.
Melvin was born January 26, 1948 in Knox, IN to Joseph and Evelyn (Sweet) Fisher and lived in the area all of his life. On January 29, 1966 in North Judson, he was married to the former Joan Larson. Survivors include his wife, Joan; five children, Melvin (Sonja) Fisher Jr. of Knox, Kelly Fisher of Knox, Kelvin (Jill) Fisher of Hanna, Larry (Chariti) Fisher of Knox and Shelly (Jason) Simon of Hamlet; eleven grandchildren; three brothers, Raymond Fisher and Howard Fisher, both of North Judson and Marvin Fisher of Knox; and three sisters, Clara Saine of North Judson and Shirley Sitek and Mae Crosby, both of Knox. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters. Melvin was the co-founder and owner of Kankakee Valley Auction and Fisher's Asphalt/Sand/Gravel.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. CST in Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Burial will follow at Round Lake Cemetery, Knox. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
