Marietta, OK — Services for Claudis Lee Hood, 84, were 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, in Eastside Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Harris officiating. Interment followed at Elm Grove Cemetery, Westminster, Texas.

Born July 3, 1923, in Blue Ridge, Texas, to Claudis Jake and Hattie Latham Hood, he died Thursday, May 1, 2008, in the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Ardmore. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald Hood; two brothers, Robert Hood and Buck Hood; and a sister, Bertha Hoffman.
He married Imogene Minyard Dec. 30, 1985, in Denison, Texas.
A resident of Marietta for the past 10 years, Hood previously made his home in Whitewright, Texas.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in Europe and Africa. He was awarded Two Bronze Stars (with V device for valor), Two Purple Hearts, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign medal, Asiatic Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign medal with Arrowhead and two Bronze Stars, World War II Victory Medal, and US Army Occupation medal with Germany Bar, French Croix De Guerre Medal. Reaching the rank of Corporal(Temporary) and officially Private First Class.

Mr. Hood was a retired farmer and truck driver. He enjoyed hunting in Colorado, going to garage sales and flea markets, and gardening. He loved to share his garden with his neighbors and friends.

He was a member of Marietta's Eastside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Mark Hood, Nacogdoches, Texas; three daughters, Betty Douglas, Brookshire, Texas, Diane Brittain, Austin, Texas and Donna Allsup, Lufkin, Texas; a brother, Gene Hood, Golden, Texas; a sister, Estelle Reynolds, Garland, Texas; five stepchildren; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Bearers were grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
