Funeral services for Hazel Mikkelson Pebsworth Hood McDuffie, 92, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, May 11, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Blackie Cranford officiating. Graveside services will be held Monday, May 12, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Antioch Cemetery in the James Community of Shelby County.
Mrs. McDuffie was born June 4, 1921 in McVale, North Dakota to Stiener and Wilhelmina (Swenson) Mikkelson, and died Friday, May 9, 2014 in Nacogdoches. She had resided in Lufkin since 1979. Mrs. McDuffie was a self employed seamstress. She was a member of Chestnut Drive Baptist Church.
Survivors include:
* her sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Linda Pebsworth of La Canada, California, David and Nedra Pebsworth of Nacogdoches and Mark Hood of Montana
* daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Jay Brittain of Austin, Peggy Muckelroy of Nacogdoches, Juline and Roger Ferris of Austin and Donna Allsup of Nacogdoches
* 18 grandchildren
* a number of great-grandchildren
* numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives
She was preceded in death by:
* her parents
* husband, Clarence McDuffie
* son, Michael Pebsworth
* brothers, Elmer Mikkelson and Melvin Mikkelson
* sister, Junice Huber
Pallbearers will be Mrs. McDuffie's grandsons.
