"DIED:
In Seneca, Kansas, July 18, 1889, Betsey K., wife of William R. Wells, in the 77th year of her life.

Betsey K. Skinner, daughter of Jacob and Rhoda Skinner was born in Orange county [sic], New York, October 30th, 1812. In early childhood her father's family removed to Susquehanna county, Pennsylvania, where on June 2nd, 1832, she was married to William R. Wells to whom she bore twelve children, seven of whom with her husband survive her. In 1845 Mrs. Wells and family removed to La Salle county, Ill., where they resided until 1857, when they made their final move to Nemaha county, Kansas, settling at the forks of the Nemaha and Illinois creeks, and in 1865 came to Seneca where she resided until her death.

She was an affectionate and prudent mother, a kind and accommodating neighbor and her tender heart and firm hand made her invaluable in case of sickness to the calls of which she was ever ready to respond.

Her funeral took place from the M. E. church of which she had been a consistent member for many years. Services conducted by the Pastor Rev. R. E. McBride."
