SENECA COURIER DEMOCRAT (Seneca, Kansas)- Friday, May 1, 1903- Page 3.
WELLS
Adolphus Wells was born in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, on the 18th day of December, 1831, and died in Seneca, Kansas, on Sunday, April 26, 1903.
He was the first born of William and Betsey K. Wells, and removed with his parents to La Salle County, Illinois in 1845, and to Nemaha County, Kansas, in 1857, where he made his home for nearly forty-six years. His health had never been very good, and in early manhood was threatened with consumption, but his removal to Kansas seemed to check or cure the disease, and until the last year he has been able to carry on his business of farming. Since that time his health has gradually failed until his death last Sunday evening. In the early days of Kansas he was elected township trustee of his township for several years, and discharged of his duties of that office with general satisfaction. He was respected by all who knew him. He leaves a wife, three daughters and a son, all grown, and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn his death. The funeral was held Tuesday morning. Interment was at the Root cemetery south of the city.
