Mrs. Sallie Long

Mrs. Sallie Elizabeth Long, 87, of Decatur 3, died at a local rest home Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Johnson’s Chapel with the Revs. Addie Wallace and Eaton Stephenson officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Brown of Decatur directing.

The body will remain at the funeral home here until time to be taken to the church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Emily Callahan, Hartford, Mich.; three sons, Ernest and Erwin Long, both of Moulton; Marvin J. Sarah "Salley" Elizabeth Southern Long was born Wednesday, August 5, 1874 in Decatur, Morgan County, Alabama to James Warren Southern and Clarissa Ellen Irwin Southern. ~ She married Harm Kelly Long, a son of Henry Long and Elizabeth Long on Sunday, August 5, 1900 in Lawrence County, Alabama. ~ He was the widower of Elizabeth Woodall Long. ~ The children of Salley and Harm Long are Ernest L. Long, William Robert Long, William Ervin Long, Marvin Jarrett Long and Emily Callahan. ~ Mrs. Long was the sister of Thomas B. Southern, Martha Lou "Mattie" Hill, Margaret E. Ashburn and Birdie May Southern. ~ Mrs. Long died Thursday, August 11, 1960 in Decatur, Alabama, at the age of 87.
