He had three sisters, Sarah "Sallie" Elizabeth Southern Long, Martha Lou "Mattie" Southern Hill and Margaret E. Southern Ashburn. Mr. Southern married Mary Etta Lane about 1895. He preceded Mary Etta in death on 28 December 1932 in Decatur, Morgan County, Alabama. He was a farmer and resident of Route 4, Decatur, Alabama. The funeral took place on 29 December 1932. He was 64.
