William Ervin Long was born Tuesday, December 5, 1905 in the Neel Community of Morgan County, Alabama to Harm Kelly Long and Salley Elizabeth Southern Long ~ He married Essie Elvira Roberts, the daughter of Reverend Milton Allamander "Allie" Roberts and Cora Theophilous Daniels Roberts.

HARTSELLE -- William Ervin Long, 79, of Route 4, Hartselle, died Saturday at Hartselle Medical Center. The funeral will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jim Martin officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Long was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Hilda Champion of Decatur; two brothers, Ernest Long of Moulton and Marvin Long of Hartselle; a sister, Emily Callahan of Athens; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
