He married Karen Lee Tull on January 23, 1958 in Red Oak, Iowa. They had three children, Alin Adam Abbott, Callea Joe, and BeLynda Kaye. They moved to California when the children were young. They were divorced and remarried on May 1, 1966 in Clarke County, Nevada. They were again divorced in June 1970 in Alameda City, California. He later married Eta Maureen Schoop on May 5, 1974 in Santa Cruz, California. They had one child, Amelia Carleen "Amy" Abbott. Later he married Leta Madge Abbott on March 26, 1989 in Oroville, California.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Doug, Jerry, and Kenneth (Tuffy); sisters, Donnetta Cady, Dixie Dozier, and Marjorie Munn; wives, Karen, and Leta. He is survived by his children, Allin (Georgia) Abbott, Callea Farmer, Belinda Daniels, and Amy (Marc) Verbish; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
