Mrs. Melba Sonnier Guidry, 80, of Lafayette passed away peacefully on Saturday evening March 29, 2007 at Lafayette General Medical Center surrounded by all of her children and grandchildren, her sister and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was born in Maurice on October 2, 1928 to Rene' Sonnier and Eloge' Broussard Sonnier. She was a devoted and loving mother and wife and her greatest passion was spending time with her family. She was retired from the Lafayette Parish School Board.
She is survived by her daughter and four sons, Carla Guidry, Danny and his wife Armie Guidry, Marty and his wife Mabel Guidry, Randy and his wife Andrea Guidry and Charles (Chuck) Guidry, Jr. all of Lafayette, LA; her grandchildren, Allyson, Brandon and Christopher Guidry, Mary Joyce, Garrett and Colin Guidry; Ryan, Ross and Megan Guidry also all of Lafayette, LA; her sister, Mildred Lantier Doucet of Scott, Louisiana and her brother, Dalton Sonnier of Lafayette, LA.
Mrs. Guidry was preceded in death by her first husband of 39 years, Charles Guidry and second husband of 8 years, Lenes Touchet and her parents. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, John Guidry; one sister, Irene Sonnier Baudoin of Alexandria, Louisiana and one brother, Roy Sonnier of Lafayette, Louisiana.
Interment in the St. Basil Catholic Church cemetery in Judice, Louisiana. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
