Wallace R. Record Sr., 71, a life long Biddeford resident and a former overseer of the York Mills, Saco, died suddenly at his Roberts Street home Thursday forenoon.
He was the son of Alexander and Melissa (Lothrop) Record. He was educated in the local school system then was employeed by the York Mills and later worked for the Saco-Lowell Textile manufacturing plant for 21 years prior to retirement.
He was a member of the Dunlap Lodge, F.&A.M., the Saco lodge of the I.O.O.F. anf the Biddeford United Baptist Church. Besides his widow, the former Minnie A. Carle, he leaves 8 sons; Clayton C. of Belleville, NJ, Wallace R. Jr. of Boston, Earle L., Paul R. and Arthur C. of this city, Donald R. of North Kennebunkport, Leroy S. of Dayton, OH, Herbert D., Army Corps of Engineers of Prince, WV,; seven daughters, Mildred Danis of North Kennebunkport, Hazel Rogers and Doris Adkins of Dayton, OH, Arlene Coburn, Gladys Pate and Lorene Harmon of Saco, June Michel of Springfield, MA; 24 grandchildren and a sister, Cora Soule of Old Orchard Beach.
Funeral services were held at the Shumway Funeral home at 35 Spring Street, Saco Sunday afternoon at 2:00PM. Included in the rites were delegations of members of Saco Lodge of I.O.O.F. and Dunlap Lodge of the Masons, this city. Mr. Record was a member of both organizations for many years.
Rev. Sidebotham, minister of the Biddeford United Baptist Church, officiated. The Masonic ritualistic services were conducted by members of the Dunlap Lodge.
Internment was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Biddeford.
