Roman James Romer, 89, of Springfield, died at 3:56 p.m. on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Roman was born May 30, 1934, in Lincoln, IL, the son of Roman Clarence and Dorothy Davis Romer.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and earned his bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University. Roman then went on to earn his master's degree plus forty-eight hours from Sangamon State University. He was employed as a school teacher and also in administration with Springfield School District 186. Roman attended Blessed Sacrament Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom (sister-in-law, Marietta) and Bob Romer; and sisters, Joan (brother-in-law, Forrest) Suycott and Lynn Bayliss.
Burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery Monday August 14, 2023.
