A. D. Barnes , retired merchant and well known throughout the section of Jackson, passed away Sunday morning at his home. Mr. Barnes had not been in the best of health and suffered a stroke on Saturday night about 6 o'clock from which he did not recover. His passing comes as the source of much regret in this section where he had been in business and made his home for the past 35 years.

Mr. Barnes was born and reared in Nashville [Tennessee ] and on coming to Jackson established a business for which he was connected until several years ago when his failing health forced him to retire.

He was a member of the First Christian Church

He is survived by his widow, Mrs Daisy Barnes , a son, N. D. Barnes of Phoenix, Arizona and a daughter, Mrs J. E. McCarter of Memphis Tennessee, a brother, Roger Barnes of Chattanooga, sisters, Miss Eva Barnes and Mrs L. L. Kennedy of Chattanooga, and
Mrs A. J. Ament of Hattiesburg Mississippi

The funeral was held this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the Chapel of the Griffin Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. R. C McCord, minister of the First Christian Church. Burial in Hollywood Cemetery.

Son of Samuel Robert Barnes and Jane Rebecca " Jennie " Redmon which married in Williamson County Tennessee USA. He was their 7th Child.

His first marriage to Louise Goy of ten years ended in divorce in Nashville TN. . Both remarried. No children in that union.

Husband of second wife, Daisy Guy. Daisy was married first to a Lewis Archer having two children. Daisy and Lewis divorced In 1906 Daisy married A D Barnes. A D Barnes adopted both Louise and Norman.

A D was a strong business minded man and had a Christian Faith as well. He was loving and liked by all that met him and he was gracious to help those that had less. He ran several businesses both in Nashville Davidson Co then moved on in Jackson Madison County {not city ] where that was Home to him and his family.

A. D. Barnes transferred his Spring Hill Cemetery'Plots ' to the family members.
