Lowell Clifford Vance, 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on June 22, 2023 in Tremonton, Utah. He was born March 20, 1932 in Tremonton to Henry Clifford Vance and Helen Nadine Allen, where he grew up on the family farm. He was the youngest of six children.

Dad attended McKinley Grade School and graduated from Bear River High in 1950. He married Ada Jean Thorpe, his high school sweetheart, on September 14, 1951 in the Logan Temple.

Dad and Mom fixed up a little place to live on the north corner of the farm, where they lived for the next 70 years. Dad began taking over the family farm and together he and Mom began the lifelong process of raising a family, resizing their home, upgrading their dairy and improving the farm that Dad loved so much. Years later they made the difficult decision to sell the cows and the farm and Dad began working as a Lab Technician at Thiokol for the next 13 years until he retired in 1997.

In his earlier years, Dad enjoyed hunting and playing on 3rd Ward Men's volleyball and basketball teams. He inherited a life-long love of fishing from his parents. As time went on, he and Mom looked forward to regular snowmobiling and four- wheeling adventures, where they had so much fun and enjoyed nature with family and friends. Dad loved playing cards and serving everyone Cream of Weber ice cream from a 3-gallon container, which he always seemed to have on hand.

Dad was a faithful home teacher and served his Heavenly Father humbly in many stake and ward callings throughout his life. He and Mom served a mission on the Sioux Indian Reservation at Fort Yates, North Dakota, in the Bishop's Storehouse in Brigham City and as workers in the Logan Temple for eight years. In his retirement years Dad diligently indexed names from the Family Search website. By the time he and Mom moved into assisted living almost two years ago, Dad had indexed a total of 254,126 records.

Dad is survived by his loving wife of 71 years; his children: Bonnie Barfuss (Sheldon), Carol Merrell (Rodney), Valerie Doggett (Murray), Lyle Vance (Kaylene), and Bart Vance (Michelle); 23 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren, with 4 more on the way, and 3 great, great grandchildren. His posterity includes four sets of twins.

Dad was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, LaMont Vance, Leland Vance, Erma Bourne, Lois Pugmire and Wilma Anderson.

A viewing will be held at the Tremonton 3rd Ward building (9590 N 6800 W- Tremonton) on Monday morning, July 3, 2023 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The funeral will follow at 12 o'clock noon. Interment will follow in the Elwood Cemetery.
