LUCY LYSINGER PASSED AWAY IN THE WEST
Lamoni Chronicle, Lamoni, IA, Thurs, Aug 9, 1945, pg 1
Word reached Lamoni Saturday afternoon of the passing of Lucy Smith Lysinger at a Los Angeles, Calif., hospital. Mrs. Lysinger, who was very well known in and near Lamoni and throughout the Latter Day Saints church, being the daughter of the late Joseph Smith, had been a constant sufferer for many months and death came as a release for her from her pain.

Mrs. Lysinger was born December 11, 1884. She was baptized Into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints April 9, 1893.

On January 1, 1906 she was united in marriage to Jesse Lysinger and to this union were born six children, namely Doris Rae, of Belle, Calif.; Smith DeWalt, deceased, Philip Eugene, Gardena, Calif., Sigmond Alfred, deceased: Lansing, of the 113th Airbourne Division, somewhere across the seas; and Franklin, of Los Angeles.

After the death of her husband in 1936, Mrs. Lysinger moved to Des Moines where she operated a restaurant until her health failed and she went to Los Angeles. Calif., where she made her home until her death.

In her last conscious moment she was privileged to see and hold her new granddaughter, Linda Rae, born to Mr. and Mrs. Collin Ferrett, July 12, 1945.

Services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Latter Day Saint church in Los Angeles with burial taking place at Englewood, nearby.

NOTE: In the handwritten marriage logbook the handwritten date of marriage was incorrectly written as Jan. 1, 1905, when it was actually Jan. 1, 1905. Adjacent records recorded marriages on Dec. 31, 1905, so it was a common type of error for the year.
