Jessie Lee, Sr. was born on August 29, 1936, in Canton, Mississippi to the union of George and Polly Lee. He was the thirteenth of fourteen children born to this union. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. Also at an early age, he moved to Chicago Heights, Illinois, where he met and married Charlie Mae Johnson. From this union, eight children were born. After the passing of his first wife, he later married Diane Gray. Without much education, Jessie was an entrepreneur and business owner.

He was an outdoor sportsman; his greatest love was fishing. His other love was his entire family and friends. On Tuesday morning April 19, 2022, he transitioned from death into eternity.

Preceded in death by his parents George and Polly Lee; seven brothers, Robert, George, O.C., Joseph, Oscar, Henry, and Willie Sr.; four sisters, Amy, Lillie, Dillie, and Rose; father-in-law, Charlie Johnson; mother-in-law, Millie Johnson; one daughter, Millie Lee; one son, Alphonso Lee; two grandsons, Keith Clinton and Rodney Lee; one great-grandson, Jerail Lee, Jr., and one granddaughter, Latoya Thomas.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Iola Flowers, Pastor Jesse Lee, Jr. (Felicia), Cassandra (Anthony), Mallory, Sr. (Mary), Carolyn (Gennis), Vernita, Antwon, and Demont; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives, and many friends.
