ROSE BUCKNER was born on April 28, 1932, in Madison, Mississippi to the union of George and Polly Lee. She was the eleventh of fourteen children. She accepted Christ at an early age in Mississippi.

In 1947, she moved to Chicago Heights, Illinois. She joined the St. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she was very dedicated and active. She served in several auxiliaries such as the Gospel Jubilee, Eight O'Clock Choir, Senior Choir, Missionary Society, and many other activities. In 1957, she was united in Holy Matrimony to George Buckner. To this union, eight children were born.

On May 15, 2002, "Our Rose departed this life on earth and went home to be with the Lord." She was preceded in death by her husband, George; daughter, Beatrice Lee; sister, Lillie Jordan, and five brothers, Robert, O.C., Henry, George, and Joseph Lee.

She leaves not to mourn, but to cherish her memory, one daughter, Louise Lee of Chicago Heights, Illinois; seven sons, Rayford (Gloria) Lee of Jackson, Mississippi, George (Julia) Lee of Riverside, California, Tyrus (Jacqueline) Lee of Rialto, California, Leslie Buckner of Wilmington, California, Ellis (Priscilla) Lee, Riley (Delores) Lee, and Hobart Buckner all of Chicago Heights, Illinois; 34 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. She will be especially missed by her two nieces: Dorlisa and Gayanna who loved her very dearly, and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
