Amy Mae Lee (Jones) was born on August 22, 1915, in Sharkey County, Mississippi, to the union of Polly Solomon and George Lee. She professed Christ in 1932 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Madison, Mississippi. On September 21, 1934, Amy was united in matrimony to Roosevelt Jones, Sr. Born to this union were 15 glorious children. In 1946, she joined the St. Bethel Baptist Church where she was very dedicated and active on the usher board until her health failed her.
She departed this life on June 2, 2009. She leaves to cherish her memory ~ two sisters, Dillie Richards of Sun City, California, and Mary (James) Smith of Jackson, Mississippi; three brothers, Oscar Lee of Chicago Heights, Illinois, Jessie (Diane) Lee of Richton Park, Illinois, and Cleo Lee of Jackson, Mississippi; five sons, Eddie Jones (Jackie) of University Park, Illinois, Moses Jones of Richton Park, Illinois, Tommy (Joyce) Jones of Joliet, Illinois, Rev. O.C. (Lou) Jones of Radcliff, Kentucky, and Peter (Sherry) Jones of Park Forest, Illinois; six daughters, Willie Mae (Floyd) Barnes of Lansing, Illinois, Lillie (James) Eddins of Harvey, Illinois, Bobbie Jones of Harvey, Illinois, Carrie (Eddie) Roberts of Tucson, Arizona, Rodena (Percy) Savage of Chicago Heights, Illinois, and Polly Shegog of Richton Park, Illinois, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Polly Lee; her husband, Roosevelt Jones, Sr.; four sons, Robert Boden, Johnny, David, and Roosevelt Jones, Jr.
