Sarah Jane (Houser) Kohn was born in Monroe Co., Pennsylvania to Josiah Houser and Elizabeth Bonser. The family moved to Seneca, Nemaha Co., Kansas when Sarah Jane was 12 years old.

She married Louis Kohn Jan. 8, 1871 and they had 13 children. She & several children moved to Kansas City around 1900. She died from Tuberculosis of throat at age 52 and buried next to children Frank and Leila in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
