Ira Dexter “Bud” Walter, 96, of Pine Bluff, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019.

He was born January 14, 1923 at Samples to the late H.D. and Annie Billingsley Walter.

Bud was reared in Jefferson County, and was a lifelong resident, and he was educated in White Hall Schools.

He served in the US Navy during World War II, and was a member of Claud Road Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #69, American Legion Post 32, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4455, and the Disabled American Veterans.

He was a retired welder and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

Also preceding him in death were his wife Louie Smith Walter, whom he married July 20, 1946 in Jefferson County, and who preceded him in death November 14, 1994; stepson, Joe McMahan; brothers, Henry Walter, Lum Walter, Michel "Cos" Walter and Dan Walter; sisters, Hartie Bell Bost, Louise Waddle, Josie Graves, Lucy Cannon and Catherine Hubbard; and 2 great-great grandchildren, Savannah and Nolan McMahan.

He is survived by a stepson, Lew Ray McMahan of Pine Bluff; brother, John Walter of Texarkana, Arkansas; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and several great-great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday in the chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Brother David Billingsley officiating.

Burial will be in Hardin Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
