Garth Carlos North 1921 ~ 2008
Garth Carlos North, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away January 6, 2008 at the home of his daughter (Joylene) of natural causes. Born March 28, 1921, in Byron, Wyoming to his parents, Arthur Mormon North, Caroline Blakey. Married his sweetheart, Orale Mecham, October 12, 1942, in the Salt Lake Temple. She preceded him in death. Garth served valiantly in World War II, US Army Engineers. Served in many leadership positions in the LDS Church and was a temple worker at the Salt Lake Temple. He is survived by his son, Garth Wayne North; three daughters, Joylene (Michael) Austin, LeAnna (Neal) Jackman, Laurel (Charles) Pettersson; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, 11 a.m. at the Starcrest Ward, 874 North Starcrest Drive. A viewing will be held Fri. from 6-8 p.m at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Church. Interment, Midway Cemetery.
