Obituary from The Deseret News (Salt Lake City, UT) - Saturday, December 13, 2003:

Rintha Jane North Burns, age 89, returned to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 10, 2003.

She was the fifth of nine children born to Arthur Mormon North and Caroline Blakey on March 29, 1914, in Byron, Big Horn County, Wyoming. She was married to Robert Emmett Burns, Sr.; the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with three sons.

Rintha was a great homemaker. She loved to work with her hands and made many quilts, also embroidered, crocheted, and tatted items. She loved to bake bread and pies. Rintha and her husband founded the first ski lift in Park City (Snow Park). She loved to camp. She was active in her community and church. She served many years as Primary president and Relief Society president. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She loved to spend time with her family and will be remembered most as a loving mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Robert Emmett Burns, Jr. and his wife Barbara Carpenter Burns; son, Alden North Burns.

She is survived by son, Darrel James Burns and wife Brigitte; daughter in-law Joelle Burns (Alden); brother, Garth North; 16 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 15, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in the Silver Creek Ward Chapel, 2555 W. Kilby Road, Park City, Utah. Family and friends may call at the church Sunday evening, Dec. 14th from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will follow services at approx. 12:45 p.m. in the Midway City Cemetery, under the direction of Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home.
