Wiley Byrd, 64, of Oneida, died Sunday, June 19, 1994, at the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville following an extended illness. Born in Scott County on June 24, 1929, he was of the Baptist faith and a United States Army veteran.He was retired from the Ford Motor Co. in Amherst, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Kitty Byrd, of Oneida; four sisters: Ruth Simpson and husband, Ruble, of Dayton, Ohio; Faye Hensley and husband, T. D., of Knoxville; Joyce Bailey and husband, Don, of Elgin; and Beulah Newport and husband, Paul, of Lewisburg, Ohio; three brothers: Leon Byrd and wife, Rosalee, of Helenwood; Kenneth Byrd and wife, Margarette, of Germany; and Earl Moore and wife, Rose, of Helenwood; step-mother, Carrie Foster Byrd of Elgin; three special nieces: Deborah Ann Webber of Elyria, Ohio; Leoma Rutherford of Vermillion, Ohio and Julie Pruchinsky of Collins, Ohio; a special nephew, Leon Byrd Jr. of Oneida, and many other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Stan Vespie officiating. Burial will follow in the Hazel Valley Cemetery with full military honors by Oneida American Legion Post 136. The family was to receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Jones & Son Funeral Home in Oneida, which had charge of arrangements.
