SPENCER - S. Lavinia Swallow, 81, of 17 Park St., died Tuesday at the Fairlawn Hospital, Worcester, after a long illness.

She leaves two sisters, Mildred H. Putnam and Bertha S. Gleason, both of Spencer, a brother George H. Swallow III of Brunswick, Maine, and many nieces and nephews.

She was born in Charlton, daughter of George H and Sarah (Morris) Swallow and lived in Spencer for 20 years, coming from Brookfield.

She was a self-employed housekeeper.

A memorial service wll be held at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, Main Street, with the Rev. George Bieber officiating. Cremation was at Rural Cemetery, Worcester.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and donations be made in Miss Swallow's memory to the First United Methodist Church.

The Clark Funeral Home, 163 Main St., is directing funeral arrangements.
