He was born on August 5, 1943 to Samuel Evan and Lola E. Martin Taylor. He married Artrella Allen in July 1976; she survives.
He is also survived by six children, Jeff (Jenny) Taylor, Kyle (the late Carol) Taylor, Sara Taylor, Roy Miller, Vicky (Phil) Bell-Irwin, and Teresa (Buddy) Wood; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; three siblings, Ivan (Colleen) Martin, Phyllis Taylor, and Lola (Larry) Cross.
Lou was preceded in death by his parents, Lola and Samuel Taylor; two sisters, Linda Koetter and Darla Griffin.
He was a hard worker, compassionate, loved to fix things especially cars and was a collector of all items. He was a member of First Nazarene Church in East Peoria.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
