James J. "Jim" Morisy, age 90, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, Defiance.
Jim was born on November 6, 1931 in Van Wert County, OH to the late Frank and Anna (Hopt) Morisy. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On January 29, 1955 he married Isabel Rakonza, who survives. Jim retired from International Harvester – Fort Wayne and was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish – Paulding and a member of the American Legion Post 115, Delaware, OH.
Along with his wife, Jim is also survived by his five children: Pamela (Ronny) Crone, Grover Hill, OH; Joseph (Pamela) Morisy, Defiance, OH; John Morisy, New Haven, IN; Carol (Bill) Krakowski, South Bend, IN; Rachel (Charlie) Kelly, Broughton, OH; sisters: Alta Ebel, Las Vegas, NV and Phyllis Porter, Hicksville, NY; 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Jim is also preceded his death by a daughter, Mary Pauline Morisy; brother, Paul Morisy; sisters: Monica Brune, Ruth Rekeweg, Lucille Vestlua, Rita Thompson, Rose Marie Guinan, Theresa Thompson, Jean Van Fleet, and Margaret Ditto.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish – Paulding with Father Austin Ammanniti officiating. Burial will be in Live Oak Cemetery with military rites accorded.
Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Den Herder Funeral Home with a rosary service at 7:30 P.M.
