PORTSMOUTH - Johnnie L. Ridley, 41, of 1814 South St., died Tuesday in a hospital after a long illness.

A native of Southampton County, he was a son of Mrs. Mattie Ridley and the late Clayton Ridley.

Besides his mother, surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Weston and Mrs. Queen E. Dixon of Portsmouth and Mrs. Mattie Hart of Franklin; and seven brothers, Willie Ridley, Garfield Ridley, Irving Ridley, Winfield Ridley, Predell Ridley, and Linwood Ridley of Portsmouth and Herbert L. Ridley of Norfolk.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in Fisher Funeral Home by Bishop Paul M. Howard. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park.
